My artifact was a parody of the song from the Disney movie Frozen, instead of "To build a Snowman" they made a song called "Do You Wanna Build A Wall"? Not only did they change the words of the song but they effectively took clips from every one of Donald's press conferences and speeches and sliced it into an amazing song about our President building the wall between the USA and Mexico. This artifact shows the audience how ridiculous the idea of building this wall would be in reality and how much it would actually cost us. Mexico is a key factor in the song, you get a cameo from the last President of Mexico saying "We will not pay for that f*%!ing wall" and they are included in multiple of the lines in the song.
The creators of this video did a great job of really emphasizing some of the stupid faces Donald has made throughout the past year or two of him running. They do a great job of using his insane amount of "hand movement" in his speaking and integrate it very flawlessly into the song. I think this does the exact opposite of what Donald has been trying to paint his image as since the beginning of his run. He says he wants to "reunite" the people yet he does things to directly split us apart day by day.

I like how you found a video that wasn't from SNL. I've never seen this before and I thought it was amazing. This definitely takes a shot a Trump and his absurd belief that building a wall will solve the immigration problem (if there really even is one). I also agree that the makers of this video did a good job at trying to convey to the audience that this plan is ridiculous and would cost us more than we would gain from it.
ReplyDeleteI think this is funny because it takes a well-known Disney movie song and puts in made up lyrics, which everyone loves. Its relevant and funny however I love the Frozen original version way more because that movie is the bomb (probably shouldn’t admit that). While this video is clever and puny I think that it doesn’t have a point except that Donald Trump wants to build a wall. It literally says “Do you wanna build a wall, it will cost a lot of money, but we will get Mexico to pay.” It emphasizes the amount he talks about the wall but does not have any facts or details for or against this issue. You said it exaggerates his “stupid” faces and hand gestures and shows exactly the opposite of the image Donald Trump is trying to create for himself but I think it does not have much of an impact.
ReplyDeleteI can not get over the "Crime Rave" haha. After such a brutal and emotional election I think it is important to poke fun at politicians right now to lighten the mood. Regardless of what side you are on everyone can look at these videos and laugh. In a way these parodies are a way to re unify the parties.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen this Frozen parody but like Stephen it was refreshing to not see a video that was from SNL. The gif that you gave us was also equally hilarious and weird at the same time. The funny thing is that I haven't even seen the movie Frozen and was still able to laugh a ton while watching the clip.
